

ZeGeVege Festival – Festival of Sustainable Living
EVENT LOCATION: Zagreb, Ban Jelačić Square
TIME: 17 September 2010 from 10 am to 8 pm; concert from 8 pm to 10 pm
GOAL: To present the public the offer of Croatian food and cosmetic producers who's business politics are ethically and ecologically acceptable.
PARTICIPANTS: On 40 stands there will be Croatian producers of vegetarian food, producers of eco-agricultural products and Croatian producers of cosmetics and cleaning products which are not tested on animals, organizations for animal rights and welfare, musicians, dancers and magicians.
RESTAURANT: In the open-air restaurant with tables and benches, visitors of the festival will be able to purchase a full vegetarian meal for a fair price.
THE STAGE: During a whole day there will be a stage on which various performers (dancers, magicians and singers) will entertain the visitors of the festival as a part of the daily programme and, in the evening, there will be a concert of a famous Croatian band.
IN THE WORLD: Veggie festivals are regularly organized in cities all around Europe such as London, Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Bristol, Ljubljana and many other. They gather producers who, in their offer, exclude products with animal ingredients, products tested on animals and who support an ecological and sustainable way of production.
STATISTICS: According to the official independent research of the SPEM communication group, 85 % of citizens of Zagreb support vegetarianism. Out of these 85 %, 27.7 % said they could become vegetarians. Over 30.000 citizens of Zagreb, aware of big personal and societal advantages, have a vegetarian nutrition.
