Along with the tenth anniversary, Animal Friends this year organizes even more diverse ZeGeVege Festival of Sustainable Living. Citizens in Croatia have recognized the value of ZeGeVege Festival, which wants to present numerous ways of using the essential natural resources without destroying the environment, endangering animals and the well-being of other people. What makes ZeGeVege Festival unique is that all products which are axhibited and sold do not contain any animal based ingredients and are not tested on animals.
Heather Mills, a famous UN Goodwill Ambassador and long-time animal rights activist Heather Mills will address the visitors of the ZeGeVege Festival on Friday, October 14, at 4 P.M., when the Festival will also be visited by Luka Nizetic, Fani Stipkovic, Lea Dekleva, Dalibor Petko and Petra Nizetic. On Saturday, October 15, at 10 A.M., Renata Sopek, the face of the current Animal Friends campaign – Green Monday, will also visit the events at the ZeGeVege Festival.
The ZeGeVege Festival is held under the auspices of the City of Zagreb and the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic, will visit it on the first day at 12 noon, while the Office of the President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic has given support to the festival. The carrot mascot of the ZeGeVege Festival will hand out brochures and invite citizens to consummate fruit and vegetables. Visitors will also have the opportunity to ride the Smoothie Cycle, a bicycle with a blender for fruit and vegetables, and make their own smoothie.
The ZeGeVege restaurant will offer promotional dishes like kebabs, herburgers, stew and dishes made of wild plants by the famous “Forest Chef” Anton Rudan. Restaurant visitors participate in the raffle and have the chance to win more than a hundred attractive and valuable prizes from the exhibitors at the ZeGeVege Festival, like a night at a bed-and-breakfast which has the V-label, healthy vegan products, cosmetic products that are not tested on animals, massagers, herbs, anatomic pillows, laundry balls, etc.
In addition to a dance and musical program on the stage, a kids’ corner will be set up, where biodegradable balloons will be decorated. Workshops, free make-up, hair and massages with products which are not tested on animals will be available. There will be many tastings of various plant based foods, like hot dogs and eco-vegetables, citizens will see many ecological innovations and take advantage of promotional sales and discounts.
In addition to a diverse stage program, ZeGeVege Festival offers the video corner, where people will be able to see a new film “Making the Connection” about the sustainable lifestyle. A recycling yard will be set up to remind the citizens of the importance of separating their waste and care for environment and the animals. Eco-light bulbs will light all stalls, while the restaurant will be lighted by LED lights. Electrical car from the E-mobility initiative will be presented, with the possibility of signing up for a test drive, along with two electrical bicycles and many other interesting things will be presented.

Građani u Hrvatskoj prepoznali su vrijednosti ZeGeVege festivala, kojim se žele predstaviti brojni načini korištenja za život neophodnih prirodnih resursa, a bez uništavanja okoliša, ugrožavanja životinja i dobrobiti drugih ljudi. Potporu ZeGeVege festivalu dao je ured predsjednika Republike Hrvatske Ive Josipovića, a odvija se pod pokroviteljstvom Grada Zagreba te će ga na prvi dan održavanja u 12 sati posjetiti gradonačelnik Milan Bandić.
Mrkvić, maskota ZeGeVege festivala, dijelit će brošure i pozivati građane na konzumaciju voća i povrća. Posjetitelji će također moći voziti Smoothie Cycle, bicikl s aparatom za sjeckanje voća ili povrća, i tako napraviti svoj smoothie.
Restoran ZeGeVege festivala promotivno će nuditi jela poput ražnjića, herburgera, gulaša i jela od samoniklog bilja poznatog ‘Šumskog kuhara’ Antona Rudana. Posjetitelji restorana sudjeluju u nagradnoj igri i mogu osvojiti više od stotinu vrijednih nagrada izlagača ZeGeVege festivala, poput noćenja u pansionu s V-oznakom, zdravih veganskih proizvoda, kozmetike koja nije testirana na životinjama, masažera, začinskog bilja, eko loptica za pranje rublja itd.
Uz stalni plesni i glazbeni program na pozornici, bit će postavljen dječji kutić, koji će ukrašavati biorazgradivi baloni. Na raspolaganju će biti radionice, besplatno šminkanje, friziranje i masaže proizvodima koji nisu testirani na životinjama. Moći će se kušati brojne degustacije raznih biljnih prehrambenih proizvoda, poput hot dogova i eko povrća, vidjeti ekološke inovacije te iskoristiti prednosti prigodnih prodaja i popusta.
Uz stalni raznovrsni program na pozornici, ZeGeVege festival nudi i video kutak, gdje će se moći pogledati novi film ‘Povezati se’ o održivom načinu života. Postavljeno reciklažno dvorište podsjetit će građane na važnost razvrstavanja otpada, a moći će potpisati i peticiju za zabranu plastičnih vrećica. Sve štandove osvjetljavat će štedne žarulje, dok će restoran biti osvijetljen led žaruljama. Bit će predstavljeni električni automobil iz inicijative E-mobilnost uz prijave za probnu vožnju, dva električna bicikla i mnoge druge zanimljivosti.
Heather Mills posjetit će ZeGeVege festival u 16 sati, a nakon toga će u 17:30 sati u Mercator centru u Ulici Grada Vukovara 269B kuhati za predstavnike medija i posjetitelje.
